Ancient and impressive monastery located in Palazzola, an area inhabited since the Bronze Age and known to the Latins as Palatiolus. The structure was founded in medieval times on the remains of a Roman villa and has a long, interesting history behind it. It includes the Church of Santa Maria ad Nives in Palazzolo and preserves important works of art, such as Domenichino’s frescoes and Bernini’s icon, and offers a splendid view of Lake Albano. Currently, it is owned by the Venerable English College and is used both as a hotel and as a center for Eastern culture and spirituality. Nearby are the fascinating Palazzolo Caves.
